The Piano
Karekare and its near neighbour Piha,is a wild west coast of Auckland black sand beach infamous for its raging surf making it extremely dangerous for swimming.
Never the less it is a popular spot with Aucklanders
The film is set in the 1840’s when a mute Scottish woman arrives in New Zealand and brings with her a piano.
The film directed by Jane Campion stars Holly Hunter and Sam Neill.
